Earleir this year our cofounder Simon Maryan was approached by a journalist, Kirstin Tait in Aberdeen who was filming a documentary about veterans and PTSD. Kirstin interviewed Simon and a client he was working with during a 4 day one to one intensive treatment week.
Kirstin has accurately captured the issues surrounding veterans mental health, the impact PTSD and poor mental health derived from a variety of factors from service and from the transition process from miliatry to civilian life. It is a complex issue with no simple answer and despite progress being made over the last few years, there is much work to be done to improve the level of service, increase treatment options provided and to simplify and speed up the access to mental health services for veterans. We agree completely with Steve Beedie’s sentiment that there shouldn’t be a need for charities to exist, but this is not an ideal world we live. Our ultimate aim is to not be required and we will continue to work smart and hard to make to this happen.
Thank you Kirstin for doing such a great piece of work.
We hope that you find this film interesting and useful as well as it being quite emotional.
