Introducing our new Patron

It is with great pleasure that we introduce you to our newest patron, a gentleman with a varied and active military career and highly successful in life after the military.

Colonel T T C Collins OBE BSSc MA PSC


Tim Collins was born in Belfast in 1960. After University he joined the Royal Irish Rangers in West Berlin before volunteering for the Special Air Service (22 SAS) in 1988. He took part in the first Gulf War as an SAS Captain. He attended the Army Command and Staff Course in UK and US in 1995. He was appointed as the operations officer of 22 SAS in 1995. Rejoining the Royal Irish in 1997 he led his company on operations in East Tyrone.

Taking command of the 1st Battalion The Royal Irish Regiment in 2001, he led the Battalion on operations in East Tyrone and the Liberation of Iraq. He was awarded the OBE in 2003. He retired from the Army in August 2004 as a Colonel.

Since his leaving the forces he co-founded New Century, serving with the USMC as a civilian Tim led his men in Iraq and Afghanistan. Tim has written a best selling memoire “Rules of Engagement” as well as writing and presenting numerous TV films.


We are delighted that Tim has joined the team at Icarus and look forward to him being part of a very exciting future.
